The Pulse provides a great range of activities for young people over the winter nights. West Dunbartonshire Strategic Community Safety Partnership is pleased to support this new programme because of the positive impact it will have on the lives of our young people and the wider community.

From the Police point of view The Pulse is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in arts and sports activities. All too often my officers on the street are told by young people 'there's nothing to do around here'. For The Pulse the local agencies have combined to make sure there is something for everyone, so please do take part in the wide range of opportunities now available on Friday nights.

Chief Superintendent
"L" Division - Strathclyde Police

The Council is delighted to be providing such a range of sports and arts activities on Friday nights for our young people. It is great to see our school and community buildings populated with young artists and athletes in their free time. I am sure The Pulse is set to be a real asset to the communities of West Dunbartonshire. We can celebrate too the achievement of Council services and partner agencies working together to provide so many alternatives on Friday nights and we look forward to developing similar initiatives to engage and inspire our pupils throughout the rest of the year.

Director
Education and Cultural Services West Dunbartonshire Council

Friday nights can be a real test for the community with young people looking for worthwhile things to do. So we have worked hard to create a new programme or sports and arts sessions that will not only help the community but entertain and challenge our young people both physically and creatively.

With well over 350 sessions in 11 venues across the area, we really feel that there is something in The Pulse programme that will appeal to every young person.

Councillor Jim McCallum
Convenor of Education Committee
West Dunbartonshire Council

Friday nights are a time when many young people have time on their hands and often complain of being bored.

Community safety and the safety of our young people are often cited as concerns within local communities and The Pulse shows how these issues can be addressed at a local level.

The Pulse is structured to provide a diverse range of services for various ages and in all corners of West Dunbartonshire. In fact, there should be something for everyone!

If Community Planning is primarily about services working together more effectively to meet the needs of local communities, then The Pulse is a first-class example of how practical services can be delivered in a co-ordinated way which benefit our young people, their families and the wider community.
